Composed of esteemed and respected clinicians, physicians, medical doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners and similar healthcare professionals, the American Telemedicine Association's Clinician Council aims to break down barriers in telehealth and pave the way for an omnichannel healthcare delivery system.
On December 11, 2023, the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) announced that it had created a new council of clinicians (and related healthcare specialists and behavioral health professionals), to directly address and combat existing obstacles to the greater expansion and adoption of telehealth, connected care and virtual healthcare modalities of care delivery.
Specifically, the Clinician Council has been charged with focusing on the means to encourage more trust in, and professional advocacy of, telehealth and telemedicine as viable healthcare solutions, driven by innovative healthcare technology and growing evidence of its efficacy.
Initially, there will be 36 members on the council. Each will serve a 2-year term. Every single one comes with an impressive array of professional/academic credentials and successes in healthcare delivery, thought leadership and dedication to improving population health and the quality of care.
Among this elite group is none other than Clear Arch Health’s Vice President of Customer Success and Transformation, Debbie Fisher.
ATA Clinician Council “Trust Agenda”
With a goal of promoting responsibility, credibility, and integrity within the healthcare industry, one of the council’s primary tasks is to build trust and confidence in telehealth services and solutions. The ultimate objective is to propel wider acceptance and fuller utilization of telemedicine, including remote patient monitoring, mobile health applications, virtual care systems and hybrid healthcare modalities that can help mitigate negative impacts of Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), as well as eradicate barriers to true equity in healthcare.
Said Joe Kvedar, MD, Immediate Past Chair of the ATA and ATA Clinician Council Chair, “The work of the Clinician Council will focus on building a climate of trust within the healthcare community and society at large, and advise on topics such as healthcare ethics, patient and provider experiences with virtual care, and standards, guidelines and practices the ATA expects members to follow.”

We wholly expect the same level of work from Ms. Fisher as she and her council co-members take on the immense tasks at hand.
Join us in applauding the creation of the ATA Clinician Council and in wishing this inaugural group a wealth of success.
Let’s extend our full support to them in the hopes that their collaborative efforts will enable more care providers to deliver personalized healthcare to more patient populations, enhance the patient experience, minimize the cost of care, reduce hospital admissions and readmissions, achieve sustainable objectives in patient care and improve outcomes every day through the integration of virtual care into value-based, patient-centric healthcare delivery models.
